The City of Webster will conduct a General Election on May 5, 2018.
File to Run for Office
The filing period to apply for a place on the General Election ballot is January 17 through February 16, 2018. Council Position No. 1 and Council Position No. 2 will be on the May ballot. Current officeholders respectively are Jennifer Heidt and Andrea Wilson. Election packets for interested candidates are available online at www.cityofwebster.com.
Drawing for Order of Names on Ballot
The drawing for order of names on the ballot is February 22, 2018; 4:00 p.m. in the City Secretary’s Office located at City Hall; 101 Pennsylvania Avenue.
Register to Vote
You must be registered to vote by April 5, 2018, if you wish to vote in the May 5 election. Voter registration cards are available at the Harris County Clerk’s Office.
Vote by Mail
The deadline for submitting an application for a ballot to be voted by mail is April 24, 2018.
Early Voting
Early voting will be conducted in the City Secretary’s Office at City Hall, 101 Pennsylvania Avenue as follows:
April 23-April 26: 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
April 27: 7:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
April 30 & May 1: 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Election Day
On Election Day, voting will be conducted at the Webster City Hall, 101 Pennsylvania Avenue, from 7am-7pm. A voting device to assist voters with a disability will be available during early voting and on Election Day.
Required Identification
for Voting in Person
Senate Bill 5, The Voter Identification Bill, requires a voter to present a photo identification to qualify to vote in all elections held in Texas. Under Senate Bill 5, the acceptable forms of identification for a voter to qualify to vote include a Texas driver license issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), Texas Election Identification Certificate issued by DPS, Texas personal identification card issued by DPS, Texas License to Carry a Handgun issued by DPS, United States military identification card containing the person’s photograph, United States citizenship certificate containing the person’s photograph, or a United States passport.
