Texas Closures and Updates

Gov. Greg Abbott took sweeping action Thursday to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus across Texas, issuing an executive order that...

  • Restaurants, microbreweries, micro-distilleries, and wineries may only provide take-out, delivery, or drive-through services as allowed by law,
  • Bars, nightclubs, lounges, taverns, arcades, gyms, athletic clubs, and private clubs shall close,
  • Limits social gatherings to 10 people,
  • Bans people from visiting nursing homes except for critical care,
  • Temporarily closes schools.

The order remains in place through April 3 and may be extended if conditions warrant. The order is not a shelter in place order and does not prohibit people from going to parks, banks, or grocery stores. Domestic travel remains unrestricted.
