2010 U.S. Census Arrival
The City of Webster is coordinating with the U.S. Census Bureau to facilitate an accurate count of the population. Every decade, the Census Bureau is required by the U.S. Constitution to collect data on residents, which determines the allocation of more than $400 billion annually for projects and services, the number of U.S. House of Representatives seats, and the funding for infrastructure improvements and maintenance.
For 2010, the Census Bureau has simplified its form with a ten-question, ten-minute format. This new questionnaire represents the shortest form in census history, since the Bureau began using standardized questions in 1830. In March 2010, when the forms are mailed out to residents, the ten questions solicit data about the number of people in the household and their names, ownership or rental information, telephone number, ethnicity, sex, and age.
