Stay Home Work Safe

Harris and Galveston Counties announce "Stay home, work safe" order. It begins at 11:59 pm, Tuesday, March 24, and remains in effect until 11:59 pm, April 3.

What does the Stay Home, Work Safe order mean?

Many businesses will close.

You still may go to the grocery store, run other errands, go to the park. Playgrounds, playground equipment, and basketball courts there will close. You must maintain a six-foot distance between yourself and others. Restaurants may continue operating drive-through and take-out services.

If you work in a critical sector, you still are allowed to travel to your job as well. 

The critical sectors are - Chemical; commercial facilities; communications; critical manufacturing; dams; defense industrial base; emergency services; energy; financial services; food and agriculture; government; healthcare and public health; information technology; nuclear reactors; materials and waste; transportation; and water and wastewater.
